Our Custom Cookie Process
Once a cookie order has been finalized and the level of detail is determined, the multi-step process of creating a cookie set (aka, “the fun”) begins…
Step 1. Design
First things first.
Based on communication with you, the customer, we formulate a vision for your order. Then we can determine cookie shapes and quantities, plan a color scheme, and map out all the design specifics (often including specialized cookie cutters, design files, and some deep-dive research).
Step 2. Mix, Bake & Blend
We make every batch of cookie dough from scratch and chill it to develop the perfect flavor and texture. Each cookie is rolled, cut, chilled again, and baked to perfection. Our vanilla royal icing is made fresh using a tried-and-true recipe, and every color is custom mixed - often in multiple consistencies - which can be one of the most time-intensive parts of the process.
Step 3. Decorate!
This is where it gets fun!
In short, we apply a base icing layer and allow it to set before adding the details, which may include a single finishing touch or a series of meticulous steps and decorating methods. Once complete, the cookies require a minimum of 18 hours for the icing to fully set before packaging.
Step 4. Photograph & Package
We take photos of each cookie prior to packaging, so that the customer has a lasting memory of their order. Then we package cookies in individual heat-sealed bags and carefully pack into their final container (whew!).
